We’re chilling out in Austin right now for SXSW. We played a lounge act on WOXY.com yesterday and have some time to relax before having shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, that are listed on the Tour page and on Myspace. We’re also twittering and facebooking a ton while we’re down here, and our friend Emily is blogging for CityBeat about our adventures. Check out the links below:
In time for some upcoming shows we have, including a few to be announced for SXSW, we’ve made a limited run of some new shirts. There are Navy for the guys and Olive Green for the ladies. All on American Apparel.
We’ll be at Mad Hatter tomorrow night with Bad Veins, Josiah Wolf and A Decade to Die For. On March 13th, we’ll be at Northside Tavern with Tobacco and The Chocolate Horse. Hope to see you out there.
We’ll be releasing our third EP, You’re Getting Old, online on January 12, 2010. We’ll be releasing it that day on Bandcamp, which also hosts our first two EPs and an early stream of Oh, Hi.
In the following days & weeks, you’ll see the EP appearing in iTunes (U.S., Australia, Canada, UK, Japan, & Mexico), Rhapsody, eMusic, Amazon, Lala and Amie Street. We’ll post the links up on the music page as we’re made aware of them.
We’re releasing our third EP locally in Cincinnati this Friday, Dec 18 at Northside Tavern (with the amazing Tanya Morgan and Benjamin Davis). Back when we made the first EP, we had always imagined to form a trilogy of EPs before we began work on a full length. Finally releasing this one puts the final cap on to a great first year as a band. Technically, it’s been longer than that, but in the public eye, it’s been roughly a year.
The online release of You’re Getting Old will most likely be in January and as soon as we have an exact date, we’ll post it up here. But without further ado, here’s a peak at the cover art and tracklisting.
01. How to Get the Most Out of Your Instructional Videos
02. Oh, Hi
03. Yippee Ki Yay, Mister Falcon
04. Insignificance is Beautiful
05. There I Was, In a Well
06. Guess What? Shun!
We leave for NYC and CMJ today, even though most of the festivities have already begun. We’re anxiously awaiting our friends sets on Wed night at Trash Bar. Back to back, we get Gentleman Auction House and The Seedy Seeds. Then we begin our hectic Thursday the following day. Our shows are:
Thurs - 9 PM - Pete’s Candy Store in Williamsburg
Thurs NIGHT - 3 AM - Cake Shop in the Lower East Side
We are quite ready for this whirlwind. We’ll be blogging, facebooking (is that right?) and twittering while we’re away, so if you want to follow along check back here or add us on those sites. (Links to the right—>>)
Yusef and I spend many a nights DJ’ing in places around Cincinnati. You can always find one of us on the first Saturday of the month at Northside Tavern for DANCE_MF. We also have a weekly residence on Sunday nights downtown at The Righteous Room and the PROJECTMILL collective we’re a part of has begun spinning on Tuesday nights at the new FB’s on Sixth St.
Yusef put together this mix yesterday of dance tunes reminiscent of a set that we’d play at DANCE_MF. We also do a lot of chiller sets that include a lot of funk, soul, jazz, electronic, etc. We’re hoping to start recording some of our sets and hopefully will be posting more like this.
Next weekend, we’ll be playing The Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati as part of the MidPoint Music Festival. We’re proud be sharing the stage with Geographer, The Subjects and The Dø as part of the PROJECTMILL stage. We’re on at 10:30pm on Saturday, September 26th.
We’ll also have some more hoodies available at this show.
We were also profiled in this week’s issue of CityBeat, Cincinnati’s Alt-weekly. You can read that online here.
A few months back we completed a remix for The Answering Machine‘s Obviously Cold. It was released today on iTunes as an exclusive B-side for their Oklahoma single.
That’s right. We play Fountain Square this Friday with our friends Bad Veins, who are celebrating the release of their self-titled debut album that was released on Tuesday. We’re incredibly happy for them and are honored to be a part of this event. The lineup looks like this:
7pm: Thing One
8pm: A Decade To Die For
9pm: You, You’re Awesome
10pm: Bad Veins
Afterparty at the opening night of The Righteous Room at 641 Walnut St. where we’ll all be hanging out and spinning records.
Yusef was also interviewed by Metromix Cincinnati in anticipation of Friday, and you can view it online here: Metromix: Meet The Band
And finally, we’ll have some new shirts for sale on Friday. Here’s a little peek:
We’re in Louisville at The Rudyard Kipling with our friends Chemic on June 11th. Then we’re playing home at the Northside Tavern with some Austin friends on Tuesday, June 16th.
Two big shows in July. We’ll be returning to Louisville for the Forecastle Festival. Our set is on Sunday, July 12th. On Friday, July 24th, we’ll be celebrating the release of Bad Veins’ debut album with them on Fountain Square.
